Gabi’s story

I was born in Caracas-Venezuela in 1986. With both emigrants parents. My father is originally from Chile. He is a mechanic and specialist in numerical control machines. My mother is a Portuguese-Venezuelan who was raised in the world of independent businesses. They encouraged me and my sister to develop our skills in art and creativity. I grew up with the influence of 3 wonderful cultures that have helped me adapt to everything. From an early age my artistic skills came out. When I was 3 years old I won the 2nd. place in a drawing contest, in which around 300 schools from the country participated.

My education was always oriented to be in contact with nature, arts, technology and commerce. At my early age, I practice ballet and the same time I took music lessons. Also, I was interested into machines and technology fairs. During my adolescence, I worked helping in the customer service in our family businesses (restaurant). Same time, I was an active member of the Venezuelan Scout Association.

by the time I graduated from high school my inclination for the arts and design was really strong. Because our school system englobes the majority of the general subjects so I was able to go practically into any college/university I wanted. This, made the transition onto the university easier and convenient by the time of enrolling.

At the  Colegio Universitario Monseñor de Talavera (University), I studied the basis of architectural design.  In 2006, I graduated with the highest grade of my class and 2nd. with a major on  Interior Designer, during my time there my work and leadership skills, also my creativity always stand out.

As a designer

Simultaneously to my studies I worked in a company called “Casa & Deco”. Here, I started my career as an interior designer. During that time in this company, I was able to get full of my hands-on as an illustrator for kitchen design and furniture. Under the wing of many talented designer, they worked for hand in hand with me and they taught me how to sale. We were working with this line of blinds made by Hunter Douglas. Later, in 2000 the company “Muebles Arganda” hire me as a designer. The experience in this company was really fulfilling how was able to learn how to use 2D AutoCAD, I learned how to do planning and budgets. Part of my duty was designing kitchen closets. Sadly, I had to finish my services with this amazing company since I needed to focus on finish my final school project by the end of my major.

Straightaway, at the end of my university studies, I started working at a transnational company called “Spazio di Casa”. This one was dedicated to selling residential furniture at the finest class and in this, I worked fully as a designer, as a seller for their fine line which includes furniture, bedroom, living rooms dining rooms and etc. By working “Spazio di Casa” I was able to interact with the most the finest Italian furniture line with exquisite taste such as: Fendi, Potocco, Scavolini, Tomasella, Sanette, Mussa, Caligari among others. I stopped working with them due to a change of residence.

On 2008,  I commence a new phase of my working life, I was hired by a  small local furniture factory called “Mr. Wood”. I had the privilege to by hired as their only designer. Here, I developed several lines of furniture from: kitchen, closet, TV multifunctional, studios, bedrooms, office furniture and personalized commercial furniture and etc. I was in charge not only of the design but also of the production, attention, presentation and advising customers, one of my outstanding works was the remodeling of the PAVCO offices in Venezuela in the city of Maracay

By 2011, I started working with the BERLONI franchise in the city of Maracay (Venezuela), Here I had a position of designer and salesperson. This company was focused on kitchen (from the design, white line etc.), wall cladding, curtains, floating floors, and security doors. At my 3rd. year with the company I became the director of the design department, where I was supervising all the design and management of the staff in that department. Part of my duties at that time was not just managing the staff, it was also administrating orders and post-sale management. Due to the political and economic problems in Venezuela owners of the franchise decided to transfer the company to Argentina and with that, I ended my time Venezuela.

In May 2015, I moved to Buenos Aires for work together with my bosses from Venezuela (BERLONI) with the new company in which name was longer BERLONI. The new name for this company is ¨Amoblamientos RENO¨, with them  I carried out with the responsibility as a designer, salesperson. I also was in charge of: administration, marketing, advertising, assistant and seasonally commissioned work.

In 2017 I moved to Sweden. Since then, I have been working as a designer freelancer. What essentially do in this phase of my life is attending the need of personal clients, friends, family and colleagues.

At the present moment, I started with two of my good friend and colleague,  an Interior designers community called “ÁREA Estudio Arquitectonico”. “ÁREA” is a project where we connect many professionals in the design branch with people that need advice within this field. Also, we are constantly uploading content and information related to interior design in the actually, in that way we can keep our followers and clients informed on last trends in design.

I am also increasing my knowledge as Landscaper or Garden design. I believe that the exteriors of the buildings are also internal areas of a structural complex that even they are not inside on some occasions, but that they are a fundamental part of the interior design of the architectural complex, which in my opinion is one more space in the interior design. To this, I also add knowledge in sustainable interior design. I am using all the design knowledge to improve the quality and sustainability of internal structures within architectural complexes, as a house, buildings, commercial area, and office.

Also and increased my knowledge in the field of sustainability in the use of materials and strategies that will benefit the interior and exterior design project. With my knowledge of Biophilia, I can create a sustainable space for those who live or work in it. With my consulting in this field, I can increase connective functions by 200%, reduce stress, optimize 15% of the energy demand and improve the health conditions of those who use these spaces.

I put 1000% of my knowledge in all the projects that I include myself. My signature is my quality and my performance. My cover letter is the recommendation of my work and my greatest reward is the happiness of my client.

"I like providing a solution in order to define what my client wants, how to work with the essence of the space inspires"
